Pie Baking School 2009
It was time Paul learned to bake a pie. My philosophy is, if you are going to learn to drive, it may as well be on a standard transmission rather than an automatic. That way, driving an automatic seems like a piece of cake (or pie in this instance). So we started him off with the most difficult pie he could try -- his favorite, btw -- the Black Bottom Pie. And he came through with flying colors! Of course, he had some help from me, and a lot of moral support from Trevoli; but for someone who has never spent much time in a kitchen, he did remarkably well. He excelled at separating eggs, got a B- for his pot stirring technique, and still needs to master pie crust crimping. We won't take the training wheels off just yet, but he's well on his way! And his pie got rave reviews from friends and family. Needless to say, it didn't last very long! Bravo Paul Bommarito!
