It was time Paul learned to bake a pie. My philosophy is, if you are going to learn to drive, it may as well be on a standard transmission rather than an automatic. That way, driving an automatic seems like a piece of cake (or pie in this instance). So we started him off with the most difficult pie he could try -- his favorite, btw -- the Black Bottom Pie. And he came through with flying colors! Of course, he had some help from me, and a lot of moral support from Trevoli; but for someone who has never spent much time in a kitchen, he did remarkably well. He excelled at separating eggs, got a B- for his pot stirring technique, and still needs to master pie crust crimping. We won't take the training wheels off just yet, but he's well on his way!
