"In retrospect it becomes clear that hindsight is definitely overrated!" Alfred E. Newman
The pies, the pickles, the pottery
"In the beginning the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move." (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe)
Welcome. It's been 20+ years since I left The Farm, as we called it. Located 10 miles north of Ft. Collins in northern Colorado, the land is still there, but its purpose has changed. Once it was the home of a band of college-age Christians with a mission to 'spread the gospel' to the world, a bible school, and a working farm where we raised produce, baked pies, and made pottery to support ourselves and our ministries. Sometime in 1987/88 we donated the farm to the Denver Rescue Mission and it is now operated by them as rehab center and working farm with family-oriented attractions. Please visit Denver Rescue Mission: Harvest Farm or Harvest Farm for information on its current reincarnation.
To former farmies: I offer this as a place to record our memories of the farm, of each other, or to catch up with one another. If you would like to contribute articles, please contact me and I will add you as a contributor. All others are welcome to comment.
Please note that my reminisces are my own perspective. Each person who was part of Mercy Farm will surely have a different point of view. We were all affected in different ways, so I do not presume to speak for the whole. It was a unique time in history (the seventies and eighties), and what happened on the farm, though in many ways painful, taught us many life-lessons.
